Short answer: Mac is supported

Loftia launches on Mac as well as Windows. The official FAQ lists Mac as a supported launch platform, alongside PC. The developer confirmed Mac again in its September 20, 2026 Early Access announcement. The official release date trailer’s description also names Mac.

Mac players buy and play the game through Steam, using the same main store page as Windows players. Early Access begins on November 3, 2026 at 1pm EST. The official demo page also names Mac in its platform section. This is a native platform, not a cloud-streaming workaround.

The FAQ sends hardware questions to Steam, where the detailed requirements are published. That makes the Steam store page the place to check whether your particular Mac qualifies. The requirements below come from that listing. They can change before launch, so check again close to November 3.

Minimum macOS and Apple chip

The Steam listing gives macOS 14 Sonoma as the minimum operating system. The minimum processor is an Apple M2 chip. The listing also asks for 8 GB of RAM and 10 GB of available storage. A broadband internet connection is required as well.

Make sure you read the macOS tab of the Steam requirements. The Windows tab lists DirectX and PC hardware, which does not apply to a Mac. Mixing them up is a common reason for confusion in forum threads. The macOS table is the one that tells you whether your Mac is supported.

The storage figure is the space the game needs on your drive, so leave some extra room for updates. The RAM figure is the minimum, not a recommendation for the smoothest experience. No higher recommended Mac specification was verified for this page. If you are close to the minimum, testing the demo first is especially useful.

Why Intel Macs are excluded

The Steam listing explicitly states that Intel-based Macs are not supported. The minimum is built around Apple Silicon, starting with the M2 chip. If your Mac has an Intel processor, it does not meet the official specification. You can check your chip in About This Mac.

It is also worth noting that an M1 Mac is below the stated M2 baseline. That does not prove an M1 cannot run the game, but it is not covered by the published minimum. No emulation workaround or unofficial fix has been verified for older Macs. Stick to the official requirements when deciding whether to buy.

Apple Silicon Macs from the M2 generation onward meet the listed processor requirement. You still need macOS 14 Sonoma or later and at least 8 GB of memory. If your Mac has the right chip but an older macOS version, updating macOS may be required. Check Apple’s software update settings before launch day.

Use the demo as a compatibility check

The free Loftia demo runs from October 19 to October 26, 2026 on Steam. It has its own store page, app 5315310, and it is available on Mac. Installing it is the easiest way to see how the game behaves on your own machine. You do not need to buy anything to try it.

If you play the demo, link your Loftia website account in-game with your email. Linked progress, items and quests carry into Early Access, and unlinked progress cannot be recovered. The demo stops before the Hanging Gardens quest segment, so it is only a slice of the game. It is still enough to judge basic performance.

The demo also shows you the kind of game Loftia is before you spend anything. It is a cozy online life simulation MMO from Qloud Games, set across floating islands. You farm, craft, decorate a home and join other players in activities. If it suits you, the same account continues into Early Access.

What has not been verified

No measured frame rate, thermal behavior or battery life on Mac was verified for this page. Those depend on your exact model and settings. We do not publish performance claims that we cannot support. The demo is the best way to judge them yourself.

Cross-platform play is described in the official FAQ as an aim that is being evaluated rather than a promise. Mac and Windows players both use Steam, but specific cross-play details were not confirmed in the checked sources. Online play always requires an internet connection. Friends need to be on the same server to play together.

Steam Deck support is confirmed for the Windows build, which is separate from the Mac version. Running Windows on a Mac is not an officially documented route for Loftia. Use the native macOS version on a supported Apple Silicon Mac. That is the setup the developer has committed to.

Price and other platforms

The Mac version uses the same Steam pricing as Windows. The announced US base price is US$29.99, with a limited-time launch price of US$24.89. Other regions use regional pricing on Steam. There is no required game subscription.

Besides Mac and Windows, the developer confirms Steam Deck support and controller play. A Nintendo Switch version is planned for 2027, without a precise date or price. Loftia launches with 14 languages on Steam. All versions need a constant internet connection because the game is an online shared world.

Mac players get the same online world as everyone else on Steam. Your character, home and progress live on Loftia’s servers through your linked account. There is no separate Mac-only edition to buy. One Steam purchase covers the game on a supported Mac.

Where to find updated requirements

Requirements can change before launch, and the Steam store page is where updates appear first. Check the macOS tab again shortly before November 3, 2026. The official FAQ will also reflect any change to platform support. Avoid relying on old screenshots of the requirements table.

If you have a question the store page does not answer, the official Discord is the place the FAQ recommends. The team uses it for questions about the game. Wishlisting the game on Steam keeps you notified of launch news. That way you will know as soon as the Mac version is ready to buy.

Launch day is November 3, 2026 at 1pm EST, which is 10am PST and 18:00 UTC. The Mac version is part of that first launch, not a later port. Mac players can also pre-register on the official website to set up their account. Link it in-game to keep demo progress and rewards.
