What do I need to craft in Loftia?

Crafting in Loftia depends on two things: gathered resources and renewable power. Two independent Beta previews describe crafting machines powered by a battery that is charged by a solar station on your island. The official website also connects tool crafting with renewable energy and sustainability. Crafting proficiency and perks then expand in Early Access beyond what the demo covers.

Gather your inputs

Every craft starts with materials. The official Loftia website describes gathering resources and making useful tools as part of exploration and sustainability. The October demo announcement also mentions salvaging, which is another way to collect materials. Gathering and salvaging are introduced early in the opening Loftia City quests.

A Massively Overpowered Beta preview noted that the tutorial introduced gathering before the home island. That suggests gathering is one of the first skills you use. Building a small stock of common materials makes later crafting smoother. The exact materials each recipe needs are shown in the game.

Later regions add new sources of materials. Gridfall is described as a salvage-focused district built from old-world remnants. Its Urbex underground exploration uses a special tool to find rare resources. Those areas are part of Early Access rather than the demo.

Check the station and recipe requirements

Crafting happens at stations or machines rather than in an empty menu. Each recipe has inputs and, in many cases, a required station. Reading the recipe carefully saves time when a craft does not start. The game is the authority on what each recipe needs.

We do not publish precise material quantities or station upgrade costs. Those details were not verified against the current build. Copying numbers from Beta videos could mislead you if the balance has changed. Check the recipe screen in your own game instead.

Your island is where most crafting machines live. The official website describes personal islands used for farming, crafting and decoration. Placing stations near your power source and storage keeps things efficient. Our housing guide covers what is confirmed about island layout.

Charge the crafting battery

Power is what makes Loftia’s crafting different from many cozy games. Qualbert’s Beta playtest preview from May 8, 2026 described crafting machines powered through a battery. The battery was charged by a solar station on the player’s island. Massively Overpowered’s separate Beta preview also said crafting needed both materials and power.

Two independent reports describing the same system make it a reliable picture of the Beta. The official website’s description of renewable-powered crafting fits the same idea. Still, these details were observed in the Beta. Treat the battery and solar behavior as Beta-observed until it is retested in Early Access.

In practice, keep an eye on your battery before starting a long crafting session. If a machine will not run, low power is one of the first things to check. Your island’s energy setup supports your workshop. Planning around it is part of the solarpunk theme.

Power and weather

Massively Overpowered’s Beta preview reported that power generation varied with the weather. That makes sense for a solar-powered system. Cloudy or poor weather could mean less energy for your machines. It adds a light planning element to crafting.

No exact generation rates or weather effects were published in the sources checked here. We do not estimate them. If weather affects your power in the current build, you will notice it on your battery. Craft when you have energy available, and gather materials when you do not.

Weather-dependent power is a small but meaningful design choice. It ties your workshop to the world around your island. It also encourages a rhythm of gathering, farming and crafting across your sessions. Many cozy players will enjoy that gentle planning.

Progression and perks

Crafting has its own progression. The official demo and Early Access overview says crafting proficiency and perks expand in Early Access beyond the demo scope. In the demo, skills are capped at Level 5. That cap only applies to the trial.

The overview does not list perk percentages or the full perk tree. We do not publish perk numbers that are not confirmed. As your crafting proficiency grows in Early Access, the game will show the perks available. Choose them based on how you like to play.

Proficiency also connects crafting with the other skills listed for Early Access. Cooking and Fishing are named alongside Crafting in the official overview. Raising several skills gives you more options for what to make. You do not need to master everything during the demo week.

Crafting tools for other activities

Useful tools are one of the main things you craft. They support gathering, farming and exploration. The official website frames tool crafting as part of exploring and living sustainably. Better tools help you do more in each session.

A recent creator tips video for the October demo mentioned quick tool access. Its description did not include a documented recipe or station unlock. We therefore do not list specific tool recipes here. The opening quests are the best guide to which tools you need first.

Crafting also connects with cooking and farming. Devlogs 13 and 14 describe gathering recipes and using farmed ingredients at cooking stations. Cooking is listed among the proficiencies expanded in Early Access. Materials from your farm and your gathering trips meet at these stations.

Troubleshoot a craft that will not start

If a craft will not start, work through a simple checklist. First, confirm that you have all the recipe inputs. Next, make sure you are using the required station. Then check that your machine has enough power from the battery.

If all of those are in place, the recipe may still be locked. Unlock conditions are shown by the game, often through quests or proficiency. This troubleshooting order is an editorial recommendation rather than an official guide. It covers the most common reasons a craft fails.

Learning more and what to expect

A Beta-era overview video from April 2026 offered a crafting overview and a map tour. It shows how the system looked during the test. Its details may not match the current build. Use it for context rather than exact steps.

Early Access begins on November 3, 2026 at 1pm EST on Windows and macOS. That is when expanded crafting proficiency and new regions become available. Link your demo account so your progress carries over. We will update this guide with verified recipes and station details after launch.

Link your demo account before the trial ends on October 26, 2026. Linked progress, items and quests carry into Early Access. Materials you gather in the demo are therefore not wasted. Unlinked progress cannot be recovered later.
