What is Gridfall in Loftia, and can I explore it in the demo?

Gridfall is Loftia’s salvage-focused district, built from the remnants of the old world. The developer describes air rails, tall buildings, a museum and underground exploration called Urbex. It is one of the three main regions planned for Early Access, alongside Loftia City and Hanging Gardens. The current demo stops before the Hanging Gardens quest segment, so it does not reach Gridfall.

What makes Gridfall different

Loftia is a cozy solarpunk world, and Gridfall shows the old world it grew out of. The district is built from remnants of earlier structures, which gives it a very different feel from the green islands and gardens. The official Early Access overview describes it as a salvage-focused area. That makes it a natural place for gathering materials from what was left behind.

The developer highlights several features of the district. There are air rails for getting around, tall buildings to explore and a museum. Gridfall also connects to underground exploration through an activity called Urbex. Together, these make it the most vertical and urban of the planned regions.

The official Beta announcement in March 2026 first introduced Gridfall and showed its skyscrapers and tunnels. The studio also published an official Gridfall teaser on YouTube before the Closed Beta. Those reveals give a good picture of the district’s look. Specific routes and quests from that period should be treated as historical.

Is Gridfall in the demo?

No, the free demo does not reach Gridfall. The October 19 demo announcement says the demo questline ends before the Hanging Gardens quest segment. Gridfall is part of the broader Early Access world beyond that point. Demo players spend their time in the opening Loftia City content.

The demo runs on Steam from October 19 to October 26, 2026. It covers opening quests, salvaging, crops and home decoration. Link your Loftia website account in-game so your progress carries into Early Access. You will then be able to continue toward the later regions after launch.

One of three main Early Access regions

The developer’s Early Access statement on Steam names three main regions. They are Loftia City, Hanging Gardens and Gridfall. These are planned Early Access content rather than three regions open in the demo. Gridfall is therefore one of the headline areas of the first paid release.

Early Access begins on November 3, 2026 at 1pm EST on Windows and macOS through Steam. The announced US price is US$29.99, with a limited-time launch price of US$24.89. The game will continue to change during Early Access. Details of Gridfall may develop over that period.

The three regions give the first release a clear structure. Loftia City is the opening hub, Hanging Gardens follows the demo’s endpoint, and Gridfall adds the salvage-focused urban district. The exact order in which players reach each region was not confirmed. Follow the story prompts in the game once Early Access begins.

Air rails, the museum and vertical exploration

Air rails are one of the features the developer names for Gridfall. They suggest a way of travelling between the district’s tall structures. The exact controls and routes for using them were not verified for this guide. We will add practical details once they can be checked in the Early Access build.

The district also includes a museum, according to the developer’s description. Tall buildings invite vertical exploration, which is a common topic in player searches. Some players have looked for ways to reach the top of the tallest building in the concrete jungle. No current, build-verified route for that climb was established, so we do not publish one.

Creator recordings from the Beta show players exploring Gridfall. They can help you picture the district, but their routes may no longer work. A shortcut found during the Beta is not guaranteed to exist in Early Access. Treat any route video as historical until it is retested.

What Urbex means

Urbex is the name the developer uses for underground exploration in Gridfall. The official Early Access overview describes it as an activity that uses a special tool. The goal is to find rare resources below the district. It fits Gridfall’s role as a salvage-focused area.

The name of the special tool and how you obtain it were not confirmed in the checked sources. No Urbex loot table or full list of rare resources was published either. We do not invent those details. Expect Urbex to become clearer once players can explore it in Early Access.

Underground exploration also fits Loftia’s theme of building a better world from what came before. Salvaging old-world materials turns ruins into useful resources. That connects Gridfall to the game’s sustainability message. It also gives explorers a reason to return to the district.

How Gridfall connects to crafting

Loftia’s official website describes gathering resources and making useful tools as part of exploration and sustainability. Salvage is one of the ways players gather materials. A salvage-focused district like Gridfall naturally supports that loop. Rare resources from Urbex add to it.

Beta previews described crafting machines powered by a battery charged by solar energy on the player’s island. That shows how resources and renewable power work together in the game. The exact materials that come from Gridfall were not verified. Our crafting guide covers what is confirmed about crafting so far.

Exact routes that need current-build testing

Several popular Gridfall questions cannot be answered reliably yet. There is no verified current route, jump sequence or set of coordinates for reaching the tallest building. The full Gridfall quest order was not established in the sources checked here. Urbex rewards also remain unconfirmed.

We prefer to leave those questions open rather than guess. Early Access may change layouts, quests and rewards compared with the Beta. Once the region is playable and details can be checked, this guide can be expanded. Send us a correction if you find an official source with more detail.

Getting ready for Gridfall

Start by playing the free demo and linking your account so your progress carries over. Learn the basics of gathering, salvaging and crafting in Loftia City. Those skills will matter when you reach a salvage-focused district. Wishlist the game on Steam to be notified on launch day.

Gridfall’s official teaser is a good way to see the district before you play. Follow the official Steam announcements and Discord for any new Gridfall reveals. The developer is the best source for when and how the district opens. We will update this page as reliable information becomes available.

Remember that Loftia always requires an internet connection, including when exploring Gridfall. Friends need to be on the same server to explore together. Solo exploration is also supported. That means you can tackle the district at your own pace or with a group.
