Fishing’s conservation purpose
Loftia’s fishing is built around a different idea from many life sims. The developer’s Devlogs 11 and 12 explain that fishing focuses on aquatic conservation. Instead of treating fish mainly as food or money, the game links them to protecting and understanding aquatic life. That fits the solarpunk theme of the whole world.
Devlog 14 adds research stations where catches help NPC scientists study aquatic species. Contribution bins are also described in the earlier devlogs. Together, they give catches a clear purpose. Fishing becomes part of the community’s research rather than a simple farm.
This conservation intent does not prove that selling fish is impossible. The sources do not say catches can never be sold. They show that research and contribution are the intended purpose. Treat both possibilities with care until the current build is tested.
Loftia is a cozy solarpunk MMO developed by Qloud Games. Its world is built around sustainability, from renewable power to sustainable farming. Conservation-focused fishing extends that theme to the water. It gives players a gentle reason to explore lakes and rivers.
The timing-ring minigame
The developer showed an early fishing prototype in Devlogs 11 and 12. It used a timing ring with green success zones. Players aim to act while the indicator is in a green zone to succeed. It is a familiar style of fishing minigame made easier to read.
This was a prototype, so the final version may look or feel different. The exact button input, the speed of the ring and the size of the zones were not confirmed for the current build. We do not publish control instructions that have not been verified. Check the in-game prompts when you first try fishing.
Hanging Gardens research and donations
Devlogs 13 and 14 revealed the Hanging Gardens, including fishing locations and aquatic research stations. The Hanging Gardens are one of the three main regions planned for Early Access. The official Early Access overview lists Hanging Gardens fishing spots and Fishing proficiency. That is where fishing becomes a full activity.
Research stations are where catches support the scientists studying aquatic species. Contribution systems give you a reason to catch a variety of fish rather than just one. Exactly how research rewards work in the current build was not verified. The game will show what each station accepts.
Fishing proficiency suggests the skill grows as you fish more. The official overview lists it among the proficiencies that expand in Early Access, alongside Crafting and Cooking. The demo caps skills at Level 5, but fishing details are tied to Early Access. Higher proficiency effects were not described in the checked sources.
Is fishing in the demo?
The free demo runs on Steam from October 19 to October 26, 2026. Its questline ends before the Hanging Gardens quest segment. The official overview’s fishing details are tied to the Hanging Gardens and Early Access. It does not establish full fishing availability in the current city demo.
The demo focuses on opening Loftia City quests, gathering, farming and home decoration. If you do not find a full fishing system in the demo, that is expected. Link your Loftia account so your progress carries into Early Access. Fishing then opens up as you reach the Hanging Gardens.
Fish location videos from the Beta
During the Closed Beta in April 2026, creators published fishing guides. One guide focused on finding fish in the Hanging Gardens. Another described a secret lake cave connected to research-station fishing bundles. Both are useful as historical references.
These guides describe the Beta build, which ran from April 22 to May 6, 2026. Fish locations, spawn conditions and routes can change before Early Access. A guaranteed cave route was not verified for the current build. Use Beta videos as ideas to explore, not as a fixed map.
If you watch Beta fishing videos, check their upload dates first. Videos from April 2026 were recorded during the Closed Beta. Anything after the October demo reflects a newer build. Newer videos are more likely to match what you see.
Fishing and earning Dew
Qualbert’s Beta preview reported that catches had a low sale value. The reviewer used the research systems instead. That observation comes from the Beta and does not establish current prices. Balance can change during development.
Because of that, we do not recommend fishing as a money-making route. Some creator videos framed fishing as profitable, but that framing was not verified. Food and farming are better-supported starting points for earning Dew. Our money guide explains how to compare value in your own game.
Food and farming have stronger support as income sources. Beta players reported earning Dew by selling produce and cooked dishes. That makes fishing a better fit for research and collection goals. Enjoy it for its own sake rather than as a job.
What we do not claim
Some sources mention a specific total number of fish. We do not present any number as a current, complete count. The game may add or change species during Early Access. A full fish list needs testing in the current build.
We also do not publish a fishing rod recipe, an NPC unlock chain or a spawn table. Those details were not verified from readable sources. Guessing them could send you looking for something that does not exist. We will add them once they can be confirmed.
Fishing is still worth trying for its own sake once it opens. Its research purpose gives a sense of contributing to the world. The developer clearly designed it as a calm, meaningful activity. We will describe it more fully once it can be tested.
What needs testing in Early Access
Early Access begins on November 3, 2026 at 1pm EST on Windows and macOS. That is when Hanging Gardens fishing spots and Fishing proficiency become available. Players will be able to test the minigame, research stations and contributions directly. Expect guides to improve quickly after launch.
Until then, the official devlogs are the best description of fishing’s design. Follow the official Steam announcements and Discord for new details. Link your demo account so you are ready to continue on launch day. We will update this guide as verified information appears.
If you find an official source with more detail on fishing, send it to us through the contact page. We check every correction against official material before updating. That keeps this guide accurate as the game develops. Thank you for helping other players.
