Campaign dates and funding results
Qloud Games ran the Loftia Kickstarter from August 1 to August 31, 2023. The campaign page records a funding goal of US$150,000. By the end, 16,740 backers had pledged US$1,271,661. That is more than eight times the original goal.
Massively Overpowered reported the result on September 1, 2023, describing the game as a cozy solarpunk survivalbox. Its report gave roughly US$1.27 million from more than 16,000 backers, matching the campaign record. The studio’s official announcement trailer was published on August 12, 2023, during the campaign. These sources show strong early interest in the game.
The campaign is now part of the game’s history. The page remains online as a record, but pledging is closed. New players cannot back the project or choose old pledge tiers. The current ways to get the game are the demo and Early Access.
Kickstarter versus buying Early Access
Backing on Kickstarter was a pledge to support development, with rewards promised in return. Buying Early Access is a normal purchase of the game on Steam. Early Access opens on November 3, 2026 at 1pm EST on Windows and macOS. The announced US price is US$29.99, with a limited-time launch price of US$24.89.
Do not assume that old pledge tiers can still be bought. The official activation page states that Kickstarter and BackerKit are closed. Late registrations do not automatically receive backer-exclusive rewards either. If a site claims to sell backer packs now, treat it as unofficial.
Kickstarter backers supported the game years before it had a release date. Early Access buyers support it at the point where it becomes playable for everyone. Both help the developer, but only Early Access gives you the game today. The Steam store page explains the plans for the Early Access phase.
Checklist for existing backers
Backers should keep using their official Loftia account to receive rewards. The most important detail is the email address. A May 2026 developer update on BackerKit explains that mismatched emails can cause reward problems. Use the same email for your Kickstarter or BackerKit pledge and your Loftia account if possible.
If you suspect you have two accounts with different emails, contact the team about merging them. The developer advises this in the same update. Sorting it out before Early Access avoids confusion on launch day. Keep your pledge confirmation emails in case you need them.
Backer-only updates were not read beyond their access restriction for this guide. That means some details shared privately with backers are not covered here. Check the BackerKit project updates while logged in for anything addressed to you. Official messages to backers take priority over general guides.
Backers who also play the demo should link the same account in-game. Linked demo progress, items and quests carry into Early Access. Using one account for everything keeps backer rewards, demo rewards and progress together. That is the simplest way to avoid missing anything at launch.
Where to resolve missing rewards
If a backer reward appears to be missing, start with your official account and the BackerKit project updates. Many problems come from rewards being attached to a different email. Contacting the team through official channels is the next step. The official Discord and FAQ point to the right places for questions.
The campaign FAQ on Kickstarter mentions unique add-on codes for some rewards. Those codes belong to individual backers. They are not public codes that anyone can use. Never share your unique codes or keys publicly.
Backers and the Closed Beta
Backers were the main group invited to the Closed Beta, which ran from April 22 to May 6, 2026. Access was delivered as Steam keys that were activated through Steam. The official activation page still explains how that worked. The test has ended, and old keys do not reopen it.
The Beta helped the developer gather feedback before launch. A later BackerKit update discussed that feedback and backer rewards. There is no new open Beta in the official sources checked on October 19, 2026. Our Beta guide covers the test in more detail.
Historical promises versus current plans
Campaign-era material describes the game as it was planned in 2023. Some details have since changed or become more specific. For example, the historical BackerKit FAQ mentions Switch in broad platform language. The current FAQ gives a clearer plan: a Switch version in 2027.
When campaign pages and current official pages disagree, prefer the current ones. The official FAQ, demo page and Steam store reflect the latest plans. Campaign-era videos are useful context but may show older ideas. Treat them as history rather than a promise of current features.
Some campaign-era ideas, such as particular systems or regions, may have changed during development. The current Early Access plan includes three main regions: Loftia City, Hanging Gardens and Gridfall. The developer’s Early Access statement on Steam describes them. That statement is the best guide to what launches on November 3.
How new players can get Loftia
If you missed the Kickstarter, you can still play. The free demo runs on Steam from October 19 to October 26, 2026. Link your Loftia website account in-game to carry progress into Early Access. Unlinked progress cannot be recovered.
Early Access is the main way to get the full game. It is buy-to-play with no required subscription, and optional purchases are cosmetic. Pre-registration on the official website is free and sets up your account. Wishlisting on Steam notifies you when Early Access opens.
The demo is also a good way for lapsed backers to see how the game has developed since 2023. It covers the opening Loftia City quests, gathering, farming and home decoration. The trial ends before the Hanging Gardens quest segment. Early Access then continues the story from November 3.
Why the campaign still matters
The Kickstarter funded Loftia’s development and built its first community. Many of the players in the official Discord today first heard about the game through the campaign. Backers also took part in testing that shaped the game. Their support is part of why the game is reaching Early Access.
For searchers today, the key facts are simple. The campaign is over, backers use their official accounts, and everyone else can play the demo or buy Early Access. No public backer codes or reopened tiers exist in official sources. Follow official announcements for any future news.
If you are a backer with questions this guide cannot answer, the official team is the right contact. Include your pledge email and a clear description of the issue. Avoid sharing private codes or keys in public channels when asking for help. Official support can check your account directly.
